SERMON ON THE BEACH The Eighth Teaching...To Super Abound.

Jesus gave us seven parables so that we might understand life on earth, according to his truths.
This eighth teaching takes that understanding and applies it to our lives and the lives around us.

Matt 13:51 "Have you understood all these things?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they replied.
After teaching these incredible insights into life and the kingdom of heaven right here on earth.
Jesus asked his disciples the question that every teacher asks."Have you understood all these things?"
And they, like all good students, with blank looks in their eyes, shook their heads and said "yes".
52 He said to them, "Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old."
Therefore means that because they understand, they have now become teachers of God’s words.
Teachers also called scribes.Along with the chief priests and rulers, tried to trap Jesus.
Scribes as teachers in the OT, started with Ezra, the first of these scribes. And Nehemiah, the governor.
Ezra 7:6 He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the LORD, the God of Israel, had given.
Neh 8:8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read.
So as God intended, these teachers and scribes taught an understanding of the words of God.
But at some point, they changed the form of this ministry, into a legalistic and self-righteous institution.
And yet at the close of these teachings, Jesus says, that the disciples are now teachers of the law.
With the revelation of the secrets of the activities of God in human affairs.
With the discovery of what takes place behind the scenes of historical and personal events.
With the understanding of how to handle the problems of life. The truth of which, is told to us by God.
With the knowledge they have, about how God works in the lives of people.Jesus calls them teachers.

How important are teachers of God’s word, today? Aren’t we his disciples, understanding him today?
I believe that it is the responsibility of every Christian to understand life, while being trained for heaven.
1 John 5:20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true.
God has left each of us on earth for a time, to learn how to live, how to be healed and how to be set free. To have the same conflicts and problems as non-Christians. But, to learn how to solve them.
When non-Christians look at us, they should see healing taking place and problems being solved.
This will give them the confidence to believe that the good news of the kingdom is a message of truth.

Now, when the disciples answer "yes", they understand the words he speaks, but not the reality of them. Who really understands words like beauty or love or life? We know the words but not the real meaning. To know the real meaning, Jesus says that a deeper process is necessary. And it consists of two parts. The old and the new.Israel, the treasure in the field, is the old.And the church, the pearl, is the new. The knowledge of both of these treasures, are stored for the time that they, are needed to be acted upon.
Matt 13:52 like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old."
Jesus says "like the owner of a house".Gk. Oikodespotee: the house ruler. Understand these concepts and apply them, as this process we call life, unfolds before us and is experienced by us.
Scripture holds the understanding. And life experiences train us for life in the kingdom of heaven.
Israel reveals the law and the prophets. The church displays the grace of God.Both are necessary.
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
The law was given to expose sin, and to help control our lives from the outside.
Grace enables God to work from the inside, healing and transforming us into all that we can be.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
This is what all Christians need to understand. When you become a Christian you are introduced to a continually transforming process, which ought to exhibit the wholeness that God has called us to.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. 15 These, then, are the things you should teach.
